Immigration
Fair, clear and compassionate rules.
Our Vision
Britain should have an immigration system that is controlled, fair and humane. We welcome those who contribute to our society and economy, while ensuring that the system is not exploited. Clear rules, firm enforcement and respect for the rule of law are the foundations of a system that works.
The Challenge
Public trust in the immigration system has been eroded by years of inconsistency. Illegal crossings continue while skilled workers face months of bureaucracy. Communities feel ignored, and the system fails to distinguish between genuine asylum seekers and those who abuse the process.
Key Policies
- Introduce a points-based immigration system that prioritises skills Britain needs, with fast-track processing for shortage occupations
- Invest £2 billion in border technology, including radar, drones and surveillance to secure borders effectively
- Establish a fast asylum decision system with a target of six months from application to outcome
- Remove the right to claim asylum after illegally entering the country, with safe and legal routes maintained for genuine refugees
- Require employers who sponsor visas to pay a Skills Levy that funds domestic training programmes
Why This Matters
An immigration system that people trust is essential for social cohesion and public confidence. When rules are clear and fairly applied, it protects both those who come here legally and the communities that welcome them. Control and compassion are not opposites — they go hand in hand.
