Our Vision
Government should serve the people, not itself. Upgrade UK wants a political system that is honest, efficient and accountable — where power is closer to the people, taxpayer money is spent wisely, and decisions are made in the open. Trust in politics must be rebuilt from the ground up.
The Challenge
Public trust in government is at historic lows. Too many politicians say one thing and do another. Waste and inefficiency are rife across Whitehall, while local communities feel disconnected from the decisions that affect their daily lives. The system rewards career politicians over public servants.
Key Policies
- Introduce a recall mechanism allowing voters to remove any MP who is convicted of a criminal offence or suspended from Parliament for more than 14 sitting days
- Cap senior civil service pay at 12 times the lowest civil service salary to restore the link between leadership and frontline workers
- Mandate a real-time transparency portal showing all government spending over £10,000, open to public scrutiny
- Devolve new powers to elected mayors and local councils, including control over skills budgets and transport planning
- Implement a zero-based spending review within the first year to identify and eliminate waste across every department
Why This Matters
When government works properly, everything else works better. Efficient, transparent public services mean better schools, stronger communities and more money for the things that matter. Rebuilding trust in politics is not a luxury — it is the foundation on which every other reform depends.
