Foreign Affairs

Global partnerships that deliver for Britain.

Our Vision

Britain must be a confident, independent voice on the world stage. Upgrade UK believes in strong alliances, free trade and a foreign policy that puts British interests first — while standing up for democracy, freedom and the rule of law wherever they are threatened.

The Challenge

The post-war international order is under strain from rising authoritarianism, trade disruption and shifting power balances. Britain's diplomatic influence has been weakened by a lack of strategic coherence, and too many international commitments deliver little benefit to the British people.

Key Policies

  • Negotiate a comprehensive free trade agreement with the United States within 18 months of taking office
  • Strengthen the Commonwealth trading bloc with a new framework for mutual recognition of qualifications and standards
  • Increase funding for the BBC World Service and British Council to project soft power and democratic values globally
  • Establish a new Indo-Pacific trade and security partnership to diversify Britain's economic and strategic relationships
  • Reform the Foreign Office to prioritise trade diplomacy, with a new target of doubling exports to emerging markets by 2032

Why This Matters

In a connected world, foreign policy is not something that happens elsewhere — it directly affects jobs, security and prosperity at home. Strong trade deals create employment, alliances protect us from threats, and British values are best served when Britain is strong, confident and engaged with the world.
