Energy
Clean, cheap and secure power.
Our Vision
Britain should lead the world in affordable, reliable energy. Upgrade UK believes that energy policy must prioritise three things: keeping bills low for families, ensuring security of supply so we are never dependent on hostile nations, and investing in the clean technologies of the future.
The Challenge
Energy bills have soared, hitting families and businesses hard. Britain imports too much of its gas and electricity from abroad, leaving us vulnerable to price shocks and geopolitical disruption. Meanwhile, planning delays and a hostile investment climate are slowing the build-out of new energy capacity.
Key Policies
- Fast-track approval for new North Sea gas production to secure domestic supply during the transition to renewables
- Invest £10 billion in small modular nuclear reactors to deliver clean, baseload power by the early 2030s
- Mandate that all new housing developments include solar panels and energy storage from 2027
- Scrap the household energy levy to reduce bills by an average of £150 per year
- Create a National Energy Security Board to coordinate supply, storage and emergency reserves
Why This Matters
Energy underpins everything — from heating homes to powering factories. When energy is affordable and secure, families have more money to spend, businesses can invest and grow, and Britain is no longer at the mercy of global events. Getting energy right is essential to national prosperity.
